“if you aren’t doing what you love and loving what you do, your power of intention is weakened. You attract into your life more of the dissatisfaction that isn’t the face of love. Consequently, more of what you don’t love will appear in your life.” ~ Wayne W. Dyer
When I tell people that I am not only an Interior Decorator but I'm also a Lifestyle Designer, I often note a look of confusion/uncertainty flash across their face. "Ohhhh, ok that's cool", is usually their response. Intuitively I know they really don't understand the concept of Lifestyle Design. I believe the quote above from the late Wayne Dyer's book, The Power of Intention: Learning to Co-Create Your World, Your Way aptly describes what Lifestyle Design means. The core principals of Lifestyle Design are Presence, Intentionality and Balance. Design encompasses everything that ever was and/or is to come. We are the creators of the life we presently lead. Unfortunately so many of us fail to perform periodic Q & A (Quality Assurance) and Self-Inspection checks on the lives we've carefully constructed. We've made a conscious decision to accept the thoughts and ideology that's been handed down to us by others. Those "others" includes family, friends, and community and of course the pre-packaged industriously marketed American Dream. People spend decades creating lives based on what they've been told or mirroring what they've seen instead of trusting themselves to be the Architect Designer of their lives. Many discover after they've rung the bell, purchased the cars, houses and had the 2.5 kids, they're left with several nagging questions. Is this it? Why don't I feel fulfilled or why am I really here?
A Lifestyle Designer helps to guide people through this process. The journey to helping and coaching a person through this process is unique to each individual. Some may require simple editing of the superfluous noise in their life that prevents them from being truly present and aware of the moment. Others may require a deeper dive into how they arrived at a particular crossroad in their life. A crossroad could be related to health/wellness, value adjustments or passion pursuits. The discipline of Lifestyle Design applies many of the same principals as Interior Design. The result of applying these principals is designing/redesigning life from the inside out. I feel deeply privileged to help guide people on their journey to leading whole lives with a heightened sense of joy, appreciation for the interior spaces I create as an Interior Decorator but also for the inner space of their being as a Lifestyle Designer.
